Leave healthcare with a plan
The three questions to answer first
Next session the last Thursday of the month (UK). Runs every month.
You’ve probably already left in your head. That tends to happen months, sometimes years, before anything changes on paper.
The gap between those two things is where people stay stuck. Usually because nobody has ever shown them how to plan an exit properly. So they wait for redundancy, or a bad enough shift, or a number in the bank that never quite arrives.
This session gives you the first three moves. Same three every month, because they’re the ones that hold everything else up.
The session
Three questions.
What do you actually have to offer?
What does your ideal working day look like?
Can you afford to move?
Answer those three honestly and the next step stops feeling reckless. Skip them and you end up applying for jobs that look like the one you’re trying to get away from.
What you’ll leave with
Three answers, written down.
- A clear view of the value you carry outside your job title, described in plain English.
- A specific picture of the working day you’re actually aiming at, rather than a vague sense that something has to change.
- Your minimum viable income, and an honest look at the financial options in front of you.
What we cover
The first three stages, in an hour.
Values and Skills
You are not your job title. Every day you make pressured decisions with incomplete information, handle conversations most people would run from, and hold a room together when it goes wrong. That’s rare, and it’s worth money outside healthcare. The problem is you can’t see it from the inside, and you’ve never had to describe it to anyone who doesn’t already work in a hospital.
Imagine
Working-day design. What time do you start. Who are you with. What are you doing at three in the afternoon on a Wednesday. Get specific here and the options narrow themselves down without you needing to scroll a jobs board at midnight.
Affordability
Minimum viable income, buffers, and time horizons. The numbers are rarely as bad as the fear, but you have to look at them. We cover the principles, not personalised financial advice.
These three are the foundation of the Via Nova Personal Exit Plan™. The other four stages, Now What, Overcome, Validation and Action, are where the full plan gets built.
Who it’s for
Experienced, respected, and starting to wonder.
- Doctors, nurses, radiographers, AHPs, healthcare managers and operational leads. Public, private, or overseas.
- Mid-career, capable, respected, and starting to wonder whether you want another ten years of this.
- Also for you if the decision was made for you. Redundancy changes the timing, not the questions.
What it isn’t
Nobody is going to tell you to quit on Monday.
No motivational fluff. No “follow your passion”.
Live online with Q&A. Camera off is fine. Come with a notebook and one honest answer to question three.
Who’s running it

David Birchmore
I’m David, I help experienced healthcare professionals who know something needs to change build a realistic, structured plan to leave, without feeling like they’re being reckless.
I was a therapeutic radiographer. I know what the drive home feels like when you’ve already decided, and I know how long you can go on doing nothing about it.
Questions
Asked and answered.
Is it really free?
Yes. There’s an offer at the end if you want more, and you’re free to ignore it.
I haven’t decided whether I’m leaving. Should I come?
Especially then. Plenty of people go through this and choose to stay, with better terms and a plan in their back pocket.
Will I be put on the spot?
Only if you want to be. Most of the interaction happens in the chat.
Can’t make the date?
Register anyway and I’ll send you the replay. Or come to the next one, it runs the last Thursday of every month.
