Now what?
A one-day planning workshop for healthcare professionals who’ve been made redundant, are at risk of it, or know something needs to change. You’ll leave with a written plan: what you have to offer, what your ideal working day looks like, whether you can afford your next move, and what to do in the first 90 days.
You told yourself you’d stop and look at it properly once things calmed down.
They haven’t.
The question you’ve been putting off hasn’t answered itself either. Maybe the letter arrived. Maybe the consultation is coming. Maybe nothing has happened at all, and that’s exactly the problem.
This day is for you if you’ve spent years in healthcare, clinical, operational or management, and what comes next has stopped being hypothetical. You’re capable. You’re respected. You just don’t have a plan yet.
By 4pm you will.
Four things, on paper, in your hand.
Values & Skills
A completed Skills Translation Matrix. What you actually have to offer outside healthcare, in language that makes sense to people who’ve never worn a lanyard.
Imagine
A picture of your ideal working day, built by you, not borrowed from LinkedIn. The hours, the work, the people, the life around it.
Affordable
Your runway number. How long the money lasts, your minimum viable income, and what that buys you in time and options.
Your 90-Day Plan
Written by you, for you, plus the full workbook covering all seven Via Nova stages to take home.
VIA is the foundation of the Personal Exit Plan™ framework. The morning covers these three stages in depth, each with its own action. The afternoon takes you through the remaining four, Now What, Overcome, Validation and Action, so you leave knowing the whole route.
Someone asks what you’re doing next and you have an answer.
Your skills, written down in language a stranger would pay for.
A number you know. How long the money lasts and what it buys you.
The drive home spent planning the first week, not avoiding the question.
9.00 to 4.00. Finish bang on.
David Birchmore
More than twenty-five years in healthcare. I started as a radiographer, then moved through clinical systems, medical technology and international roles, working for some of the biggest healthcare companies in the world.
I’ve quit jobs and I’ve been made redundant. I know both feelings, the exit you chose and the one that chose you.
After one particularly brutal contract I walked away with no safety net. It still took a few more years to work my last shift. That gap, between the decision and the move, is where most people live. It’s longer than it needs to be.
Since then I’ve built and grown several businesses, sold one, and now I help experienced healthcare professionals build a realistic, structured plan for what comes next, without feeling like they’re being reckless. My goal is to help 1,000 of them do it. That number matters to me.

Their words, not mine.
David helped me reflect on my career and recognise my skill set, considering how I am, or am not, using it to my full potential.
KS · Director, former Radiographer
He helped me identify my skill set and made me realise these skills are not only transferable, but how valued they would be outside of a healthcare setting. It gave me the confidence to make positive changes.
TM · Nurse
His advice helped me recognise the value of my clinical experience, leadership skills and transferable strengths. It genuinely helped rebuild my confidence.
AM · Clinical Lead Nurse
I would highly recommend David and Via Nova to anyone seeking to refresh their career and explore new ways of applying their skills. Nothing is ever too much trouble.
DG · Digital Transformation, former Radiographer

Asked and answered.
Do I need a business idea?
No. The day works whether your next move is a business, a portfolio career, or a different employed role. The plan comes first. The route follows.
Is this only for hospital staff?
No. Clinical, operational, management, private sector, international, all of it. If you’ve built a career in healthcare and there’s a question in front of you, this room is for you.
I haven’t been made redundant. I’m at risk, or just thinking about leaving. Can I come?
Yes. The plan works the same, you’d just be building it before the decision instead of after it. Some would say that’s the better order.
Will I have to share my finances with the room?
No. The Affordable stage is worked on your own paper. Nobody sees your numbers but you.
Can my employer or redundancy package pay for this?
Often, yes. Many settlements include outplacement or retraining budgets that go unspent. I can invoice directly. Worth asking, it’s your money either way.
Is this a sales pitch for something bigger?
The day stands on its own and you leave with your plan. If you want to build the full Personal Exit Plan™ afterwards, your workshop fee credits toward it. That’s the whole pitch, and this is the only place you’ll hear it.
What should I bring?
A pen. Everything else, workbook, lunch, coffee, is provided.
Book your seat. Bring the question you’ve been avoiding.
